    • Grit and Gears: Maintainer Resilience

      The 757th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron developed a self-care day called “Mindful Maintainer” that occurs every Friday to help maintainers enhance their resiliency and foster connections. Airmen rotate through the program weekly with activities coordinated by integrated resiliency training assistants who run the course. The sessions focus on strengthening maintainers’ communication skills and stress management.

      The Air Force Chief of Safety Maj. Gen. Sean Choquette released the fiscal year 2023 Secretary of the Air Force and Chief of Staff Safety Awards, as well as the Air and Space Forces Chief of Safety Awards. The awards included the Major General Benjamin D. Foulois Memorial Award winner -- Air Combat Command. The award recognizes the MAJCOM/FLDCOM/DRU/FOA with the most effective flight safety program.

    • MQ-9A Abbreviated Accident Investigation Report Released

      Today, Air Combat Command released an Abbreviated Accident Investigation Board report regarding an MQ-9A Reaper that crashed on May 4, 2023, in the ocean in an undisclosed location within the United States Africa Command area of responsibility. The mishap resulted in no fatalities, nor injuries or reported damage to civilian property.

      The 44th Fighter Group, Air Force Reserve, conducted their first flying Unit Training Assembly at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida, April 6, 2024, since returning to Tyndall. This training proved valuable for the pilots and maintainers by giving them hands-on experience with F-35A Lightning II’s and their first local sortie since departing Tyndall prior to Hurricane Michael.

      U.S. Air Force Airmen from the 20th Logistics Readiness Squadron teamed up with Soldiers from the 1-151st Attack Reconnaissance Battalion to load up AH-64E Apache for a joint forcible entry land and air operations exercise in Florida. The two-day process marked the first time U.S. Army AH-64Es were loaded into a C-5M at Shaw.

    • 25th ATKG opens new headquarters and operations facilities at Shaw

      The U.S. Air Force 25th Attack Group hosted military leaders, congressional representatives and honorary commanders from the local community at an immersion tour and ribbon cutting ceremony for their newly constructed headquarters and operations building at Shaw Air Force Base.

    • Guardian Angels and Royal Canadian Air Force SAR Techs Solidify Space Rescue Skills Through Joint Training Effort

      In a landmark effort to enhance space rescue capabilities the First Air Force (Air Forces Space), Det. 3 Instructor Cadre, conducted an extensive Rescue Force Qualification Course at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, included the Royal Canadian Air Force Search and Rescue (SAR)and Pararescue Specialist from the 38th Rescue Squadron out of Moody Air Force Base, Ga.
      Cape Canaveral SFS, April 2024 - A multinational team of rescue specialists, including three members from the Royal Canadian Air Force Search and Rescue along with Pararescue Specialist from the 38th Rescue Squadron from Moody AFB, Ga., underwent rigorous training at the Rescue Force Qualification Course taught by 1 AF, Det 3 Rescue Instructor Cadre. The course prepares rescue forces for alert posturing through comprehensive academics, ground, and water operations. Trainees are immersed in space medicine basics and trained on a practice spacecraft analogue for crew capsule functionalities, astronaut extrication techniques, and spacecraft hazard identification, culminating in capsule up-righting drills. This collaboration, requested by NASA, aims to broaden rescue capabilities for Commercial Crew Program launches and foster a closer bond between Det 3/SOC and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, streamlining communication for global rescue missions.
